  • The 202 equities listed in both Canada and the US had average daily volume across both countries of 1.32 billion shares in June (+24.70% m/m), the highest level in our 12-year data set.
  • Of this total, 981.3 million (+30.04% m/m) traded in the US and 333.9 million (+11.26% m/m) in Canada, for a US-CAD split of 74.6%-25.4%.
  • Looking at value traded, the US-CAD split is less pronounced, at 63.81% south of the border to 36.19% north.
  • The US OTC market traded 3.89% of the total value in single-listed Canadian securities, up 25 bps m/m.
  • Average daily volume rose 9.77% m/m (+20.50% y/y), to 1.20 billion shares.
  • Dark-pool market share declined 33ps m/m (+122 bps y/y) to 6.55%.
  • Hidden orders on lit markets executed 11.25% of Canadian volume in June, down 57 bps from May.
