  • Volumes climbed in June despite volatility, measured by the VIX average daily close, dropping 20.69% m/m (-50.43% y/y), to 13.99.
  • Equity ADV increased 6.00% m/m (-11.64% y/y), to 11.27 billion.
  • Year-to-date equity ADV is off 11.49% from the same period last year and 5.09% from full-year 2022.
  • The top 20 most-active equities accounted for 14.64% (+138 bps m/m) of volume and 19.67% (+40 bps m/m) of value traded, with off-exchange market share of 54.33% (-16 bps m/m).
  • NYSE (+80 bps m/m) and Nasdaq (+60 bps m/m) gained the most equity market share; Cboe BZX (-48 bps m/m) lost the most.
  • 42.04% (+100 bps m/m) of off-exchange volume traded at the NBBO, compared with 16.51% (-101 bps m/m) done at the midpoint.
  • Closing prints accounted for 10.82% of equities volume, up 351 bps m/m; 20.26% of closing volume occurred off-exchange, down 55 bps m/m.
  • ETP ADV rose 1.15% m/m (-18.76% y/y), to 2.00 bn, comprising 17.78% of equity ADV (-85 bps m/m).
  • Equity-options ADV grew 6.10% m/m (+18.03% y/y), to 41.7 million contracts.
  • Year-to-date, equity options ADV is up 6.49% from the same period last year and 6.99% higher than full-year 2022.
  • In equity options, Cboe (+120 bps m/m), BOX (+65 bps m/m) and Nasdaq GEMX (+65 bps m/m) gained the most market share, while NYSE American (-90 bps m/m) lost the most.
  • Index-options ADV climbed 8.48% m/m (+38.10% y/y), to 3.96 million.
