Biography

Nicolo Bertoncello is an economic policy advisor to Professor Danuta Hübner, Member of the European Parliament (EP) and rapporteur for the MiFIR/MiFID II and EMIR reviews. In his role, Nicolo leads the EP's technical work on both MiFIR and EMIR and closely follows the developments in international and European capital markets, as well as all other economic issues relevant to the Parliament's Committee on Economic and Monetary Affairs.

Nicolo holds a Master's degree in Business Management from Bocconi University in Milan, a Master's Degree in Public Policy from SciencesPo University in Paris, and is a graduate of Cardiff University. Before joining the European Parliament, he worked at Kreab in Brussels as a consultant on financial services, as well as at the OECD in Paris, where he focused on taxation matters, and at L'Oréal in London.

Since beginning his work on the MiFIR and EMIR reviews, Nicolo has extensively engaged with market participants across the trading and post-trading space and has become passionate about market structure.
