  • Volumes declined broadly, as the VIX average daily close fell 20.27% m/m (-57.99% y/y) to 17.42, its lowest level since January 2020.
  • Equity ADV dropped 25.84% m/m (-19.79% y/y) to 9.90 billion.
  • The top 20 most-active equities accounted for 14.72% (+191 bps m/m) of volume and 10.88% (-233 bps m/m) of value traded, with off-exchange market share of 55.82% (+718 bps).
  • Off-exchange venues (+189 bps m/m), MEMX (+68 bps m/m) and Cboe EDGA (+63 bps m/m) gained the most equity market share; Nasdaq (-110 bps), Cboe EDGX (-66 bps m/m) and NYSE National (-61 bps m/m) lost the most.
  • Block market share fell 27 bps m/m, to 6.04% of total equities volume.
  • Closing prints accounted for 6.21% of equities volume, down 53 bps m/m.
  • 24.12% of closing volume occurred off-exchange, up 134 bps m/m.
  • ETP ADV fell 21.07% m/m (-44.71% y/y), to 1.51 bn, or 15.30% of total equity ADV (+90 bps m/m).
  • Equity-options ADV declined 13.83% m/m (+30.71% y/y), to 32.1 million contracts.
  • In equity options, MIAX (+155 bps m/m), Nasdaq GEMX (+63 m/m) and Cboe C2 (+60 bps m/m) gained the most market share; NYSE Arca (-89 bps), MIAX Pearl (-79 bps m/m) and Cboe BZX (-66 bps m/m) lost the most.
  • Index-options ADV fell 2.44% m/m (+13.55% y/y), to 1.77 million.
