• The 180 equities listed in both Canada and the US had average daily volume across both countries of 490.8 million shares in September, up 19.60% m/m
• Of this total, 259 mn (52.8%) traded in the US (+20.38% m/m) and 232 mn (47.2%) in Canada (+19.64% m/m), leaving market share between the two countries unchanged from August
• Action in cannabis and gold shares drove gains for US venues last month, which were offset by a long-awaited reverse split for specialty-medical-device maker Neovasc and news-driven trading in a few other names, including Nevsun Resources and DHX Media
• Cannabis shares also saw heightened US OTC activity, helping drive US OTC market share in single-listed Canadian stocks to 6.9%, the highest level by far in our five-year data set
• Market-wide (including single-listed names) ADV climbed 49.11% m/m (+54.59% y/y), to 1,370.3 million shares
• Dark-pool market share climbed 39 bps m/m (+95bps y/y), to 8.00%
