Job description
The Operations Associate position is an entry-level middle office role to be a liaison between a number of parties: our clients, traders and other personnel, clearing firm, algo providers and exchanges, and third-party vendors. You will be mainly responsible for post-trade support and ensuring that end of day processing is as smooth and efficient as possible. The position is based at our 40 Wall Street NYC headquarters.
Responsibilities:
- Onboard and setup new clients prospected by our sales team for floor/desk trading
- Process end of day trade allocations across multiple platforms
- Monitor trade affirmations and resolve trade breaks in a timely manner
- Address fails and open items to keep clients appraised as needed
- Trade matching and reconciliation of back office and front office systems
- Communicate processing and settlement issues with traders and clients
- Work closely with the CCO, COO, and VP of Operations and Executions Services
- Provide extra trading capacity daily at the market close with our team on the NYSE floor
- Allocate revenues and expenses for our controller on a monthly basis
- Support of our client billing system
- Coordinate with our compliance department to help them complete FINRA audits
- Assist in ad hoc projects for other business units
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, or other related field
- Relevant experience in brokerage/hedge fund operations and knowledge of settlement process a plus
- Interest in financial services and the equity markets and how they operate
- Keen attention to detail and ability to identify potential issues before they arise
- Ability to collaborate and work as part of a team while also being self-sufficient
- Intuitive and resourceful problem solver that needs minimal guidance
- Implement creative technology solutions to improve/optimize automated workflows
- Client-focused mindset when responding to requests and understands the sense of urgency
- Teachable and capable of picking up new systems/topics quickly and easily
- Effectively communicate and practice good email etiquette
